This book focuses on the connection between the awareness of subjectivity and patriarchy in the context of modernity and Xu Bing's artwork – Dragonfly's Eyes.
While the topic of this artwork, surveillance, serves as a metaphor of the gaze from subject/subjectivity, it reveals the similarity between subjectivity and patriarchy in their tendency to impose their ideologies on others.
Ironically, this tendency of subjectivity leads it to relinquish itself in reverse.
